Jason has been a fan of music from an early age and began his journey as a drummer at age 10. Listening to a wide variety of music followed as well as private lessons and participating in concert and jazz bands through high school. The next step was attending Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a Jazz/Studio major studying with renowned drummer, John Von Ohlen.
After college, Jason began his professional career playing regionally and throughout the USA, Europe, Canada, Brazil and the Caribbean with Ray's Music Exchange, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey (JFJO), Robert Walter's 20th Congress, Fareed Haque, Legends in Concert and many others. A proud moment for Jason occurred when he was featured in an article for Modern Drummer magazine in April 2005.
Currently, Jason enjoys performing with Now Hear This (world beat/jazz), Steve Schmidt Organ Trio (organ/guitar jazz), JFJO (multi stylistic composition/improv), Almond Butter Band (Allman Bros. Tribute) and The Newbees (60s/70s rock) as well as various freelance gigs (jazz, rock, funk) in the region.
While keeping a busy performance/recording schedule for the past 25+ years, Jason has worked with students aged 8-80 on reaching their goals through drum set techniques, various musical styles, dynamics, tone, time feel, chart reading and playing with passion.
